Albany County Community Empowerment
"Empowering Communities for Successful Aging"

The Honorable Lucille M. McKnight, 2nd District County Legislator, coordinated with Albany County Department of Social Services and other agencies to arrange a Livable Community forum. The audience for the forum were seniors and persons with disabilities. The highlights of the forum included the benefits of creating a friendly community for the aging and disabled, identifying steps that residents can take to make the community more livable.

The event was held on Oct. 18th at the John A. Howe Library. The participants engaged in discussions and completed a survey regarding their expectations for a Livable Community, the information was recorded by partnering organizations. The event sponsors were AARP, NY Connects, New York State Office for the Aging, and Albany County's Long Term Care.

Each of the participants received packets that contained valuable information regarding services that are currently available. If you or someone you know would like more information or need assistance please contact Albancy County Department for Aging at 447-7177, one number for all of your needs.
