The Albany Public Library Foundation proudly announces Dr. Frankie Y. Bailey and Dr. Alice P. Green as the 2018 Literary Legends honorees.
The APL Foundation will celebrate their important contributions to both literature and the life of the city of Albany at the 5th annual Literary Legends Gala on Saturday Oct. 20, at the Howe Branch. The event raises funds for the APL Foundation, which in turn supports special projects and programs at the library.
Together, Green and Bailey have written three books, including Wicked Albany. Green is also founder of The South End Scene, one of Albany's longest running black newspapers. Bailey's mystery novels include the "Hanna McCabe" series.
Green is the executive director of the Center for Law and Justice, a civil rights organization she founded in 1985. Bailey is a distinguished scholar and professor of criminal justice at the University at Albany.
Tickets for the Literary Legends Gala will go on sale this summer.
