Mark Dunlea, dunleamark@aol.com, 518 860-3725Sustainable and climate organizations are organizing a roundtable with candidates for Mayor in the City of Albany on Tuesday June 4. The event is an opportunity for the candidates and local organizations to discuss The Environmental Challenges and Opportunities Facing the City of Albany and Its Citizens in 2025.
Sponsoring groups include Zero Waste Capital District; PAUSE (People of Albany United for Safe Energy); Sierra Club Hudson-Mohawk Group; SHARE (Sheridan Hollow Alliance for Renewable Energy); Capital District Citizen Action; and Radix Ecological Sustainability Center. Expected topics include waste issues; Rapp Road Landfill; climate plans; urban trees; Sheridan Avenue Steam Plant; and community input.
Anticipated candidates include Dorcey Applyrs; Dan Cerutti; Corey Ellis; and Carolyn McLaughlin.
Rather than a traditional debate format, the groups are looking to dialogue with the candidates about the critical environmental issues facing the city and possible solutions.
