City and School District Open Myers Middle School Pool

Lincoln Park Pool Remains Closed, City to Provide Transportation from Lincoln Park to Myers Middle School and Mater Christi Pools

Albany--The Albany City School District will be opening Myers Middle School Pool (located at 100 Elbel Ct. off Whitehall Rd.) and City lifeguards will staff it so that residents have a place to cool off during the anticipated three-day heat wave. The City will provide transportation from the closed Lincoln Park Pool to Myers Middle School and the Mater Christi Pool. The Myers Middle School Pool will be open on Thursday, August 11, Friday, August 12, and Saturday, August 13, from 12 noon until 7 p.m., and the Mater Christi Pool will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m..
Buses will be making round trips from the Lincoln Park Pool to the Myers Middle School and Mater Christi pools every half hour beginning at 12 noon until 6 p.m.. The last bus will leave at 7:00 p.m. to return to the Lincoln Park Pool.  Adults must accompany children under the age of 16 on the bus and must sign a waiver for 16 to 17 year olds to ride unsupervised.
“I want to thank the Albany City School District for their willingness to work with the City to make a third pool available for our residents,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. “With expected high heat over the next three days, we were very concerned about the lack of ability to use Lincoln Park Pool. We hope that extending the hours at Arbor Hill Pool and providing transportation to Myers and Mater Christi will help more residents escape the heat.”
The Arbor Hill Pool at 50 Lark Street remains open to the community from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is extending its evening hours, remaining open to the public from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice.  Please note, the Arbor Hill Pool is not open to the public between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to accommodate summer youth camps.
The 11 spray pads around the City remain open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more information on the various spray pads throughout the City, please visit http://www.albanyny.org/Government/Departments/Recreation/ParksandFacilities/SeasonalPools.aspx.
Questions regarding the pools can be directed to the Department of Recreation at (518) 434-5699.
